The request can be made in person at our office in Albany City Hall on the second mezzanine in room 254M. Vital Statistics does not accept personal checks. Please use cash, credit/debit card (4% service fee), a money order, or a certified bank check if coming in person to the office. The typical processing time for genealogy requests is 6 to 8 weeks. Each request must be accompanied by a valid photo identification.

https://www.albanyny.gov/239/Genealogy. There is a fee of $15 for each certified copy of a death record or a No Record Certification. There is a 4% surcharge for all credit/debit card payments in our office. Fees are collected at the time of request.
